Ahhhh, Warm Weather!

The sunny days of Spring have finally arrived and I sure am glad!  I thought about all the freezing days that the Fat Fish rode this Winter as I soaked in the rays.  The heat will definitely be here in a few days when we get together again for the Crazed Cow Bike Ride.  This ride is going to be so much fun!  It will be new trail that you have never ridden before, and the great thing is that it is public land.  We'll show it to you, then you'll know of this great new place to ride.  Heck, maybe we'll even have some of that perfectly worn singletrack cattle trail that is so popular in our area :)

Once again folks, this ride is FREE and anyone can ride with us.  Just fill out the waiver as soon as you get there, put on your helmet and drink plenty of water.  Temps in the 80's for Monday!

Category A will start at 6:30pm
Category B and all Women will start at 6:31pm

Please RSVP so we know how much food and refreshments to bring.

Awards for top 3 individuals in each category.  Random prizes will be drawn for people who register.  At the last ride we had about 500$ worth of prizes!

Thank you Fat Fish Racing sponsors.  We appreciate your support!

Number Plates

We have run into the greatest problem EVER!!  There are enough people riding at the Fat Fish Racing Events that timing has become a bit of an issue.  So to relieve this problem, we are going to have all of you make your own number plates for the year.  This will start at the next event and everyone NEEDS to make their own plate.  You will notice on the "preliminary results" post below, that each person has a plate number next to their total points.  For example, Mike D (the series leader in A Category) has a plate number of A1.  A indicates the category he is in, while the number 1 indicates his ranking.

If you are not on these results but plan on making it to the next event, make your own number up.  If you are going to ride in the B category, come up with a number.  Just start your plate number with the letter B so we know you are in the B category.  Be creative and use a number greater than what is already being used on the preliminary results post.

Below is a pic of Matt L at 24 hours of Moab with his plate number on.  Your plate number can be zip tied, twisty tied or taped to your handlebars and cables.  This will make it easy for the people helping with times.  I'm planning on using the back side of this plate number, but an actual paper plate will work just fine too.

Be creative with you plate numbers!  Have fun with your plate and remember to keep them in good condition so you can reuse them at each event.

If you have any questions email us at fatfishracing@gmail.com

Trail Maintenance Cancelation

I am sorry to inform you that the Glendo Trail Maintenance day has been canceled.  We will let you know of the next trail building day as soon as one comes up.  The Fish will be riding all over the place this weekend.  Hopefully we make some new contacts and get permission to show all of you some great new trail.  We can't wait!

Worried about wrecking trail because of all the rain?  Then check out Jons Way Up trail at Alcova.  Solid rock, technical, great views, challenging..... FUN!  It doesn't get any better than that.

Have fun and remember, keep the rubber side down.

FFR Event #2.... AWESOME!

Way to go mountain bikers!!!  You guys all rocked on Monday.  Whether you finished in first place or made it as far as your lungs could take you before dark, you all get a tip of the hat from this guy.  Watching 37 men and women in the B Category all leave at once was a thing of beauty.  So many smiles and hoots and hollers from the riders meant that the FFR Team must be doing something right.  Thank you so much for all the encouragement.  All of your "thank you"s really mean a lot to us!  How about that schwagg people!  Do you like free stuff?? Heck yeah you do.  There will be more of that coming at the next ride on June 6th.  Until then, keep riding your bikes.  I know I know, it's raining out.  Well then get to Wind City Physical Therapy for an early morning indoor workout with Leif.  Do you want to get faster?  Leif will make that happen for you!

The results are posted below.  If you have a 0 next to your name it is because you were unaccounted for.  Please email or facebook us with how the ride went down for you.  Were you one of the three ? that didn't call their name to the time taker?  Please let us know so we can get this in order.

Thanks FFR Fans!

Check out the lead pack of Cat A riders.  Brook, your an animal leading those three Fish up the mountain.  You can't tell by the picture, but at this time, Brook is pulling these guys through a 15 mph head wind.  Keep it up man!  I think a FFR jersey would like mighty fine on ya.  55 bucks for one of them.  Yup, we have some spare jerseys for sale if your interested.

Top 3 Cat B riders from L to R: Ed, Gordon, Dustin.

Top 3 Cat A riders from L to R: Brook, Mike, Matt

FREE STUFF!!!!   Thank you Pottery By You, Nic Art Museum, Schneider Electric, Western Distributors and everyone else for your donations and help with our rides.  THANK YOU!!

Bessy Update

Just got off the phone with the landowner for final approval of the course.  We are a go!  The Fat Fish Racing Team is jacked about this ride.  So many RSVP's....... That's so cool.  Lets have an awesome night and ride as hard as we can to the top of that mountain!!!!!

I'm just wanting to go over the important ride info one last time.

6:15pm start time for all Cat B riders.
6:30pm start time for all Cat A riders.

At 7:45pm, we ask that everyone be heading down the mountain.

Be prepared for wind!  I am a huge fan of listening to music while the wind is blowing.  It helps to distract me from how annoying it is.  Just don't let your music get in the way of yours or anyone else's safety.

So far, there has been one rider who has requested to start early.  He will be starting to ride up at 5:30pm.  If you feel that you might not make it to the top by 7:45, then please start earlier.  Timing will then be your responsibility if you start prior to the two Category times.  To gauge yourself (look at the last ride results), Adam L rode the course in 35 minutes.

Majority rules here with the B Category.  Riders will be timed, names posted on the Internet, and points will be given just the same as Cat A.  If you object to this then just get ahold of one of the Fat Fish after the ride and let us know so we don't add you.

Women's Category?????   Talk to us after the ride.  I'm thinking that we could have a separate "Cat W" division where all women ride the same course as the Cat B rider and are timed and earn points against the other women.  Let us know what you think please.  If we don't get a response here, then we won't do it.

Looks like the weather is going to be great on Monday!!  What are you up to this weekend?  Fish are biting in town below any of the White Water Park rapids.  I hear the trout at Pathfinder are eating anything you throw in the water.  The golf courses look great, the Pathway is getting cleaned tomorrow from and both bike shops in town are open on Saturday for your spring tune-ups.  Tell them the Fat Fish sent you!

Leif leads the way!

Some folks were able to ride the whole thing.......

But that hill was steep!!!  Still having fun though.

Success!

A huge thanks goes to all the riders that made the season opener a total success.  37 men and women were there to ride and at least 20 spectators to cheer everyone on!!  The Fat Fish are so happy to have some new faces and new riders join us in what we hope to be challenging and fun events.  Tonight's ride was definitely a challenge, with that insane hill climb called the goat path.  Then to add insult to injury, the top of the hill turns to sand and remains that way for the next 1/3rd of a mile.

How awesome was the creek crossing?  It was a beautiful thing to see Colby wheelie through that thing at 20 miles an hour!

A big "WAY TO GO" must go to Gabe H, who flatted from a cactus at the top of the goat path.  Gabe still pounded out another two laps to finish in the A category.  Another Way To Go to all the new riders, especially Harrison who muscled his way through 2 laps in the B category.  Way to finish bro!

If you rode the B category, I have your name down and you will receive 10 points for riding tonight.  This is so you could bump up to the A category later if you choose and you'll have a few points gathered up.  If you rode the A category, your results are below.  Riding in the A category will gain you points towards the end of the year awards.  Trophies and some unique plaques will be awarded for some of the riders who compete in this category all season.

Thanks for making this event great and I can't wait for the next one!  May 16th.  Same time, different location.  I'll have a course description for you by the end of the week.
