A guy can dream right

This last weekend did bring us one amazing day, yet everyone I've talked to only had the chance to ride on the colder and windier days.  Oh well, when I got back in from my 1:44 minute ride (would have been more like a 15 minute ride if it wasn't for my winter cycling boots) I sat up close to the computer to dream about warmer days of mountain biking.  The Fat Fish can't wait to get our ride series started and to get on the dirt again.  We hope you are as excited as we are.

Enjoy the vid!

The team racing jerseys were ordered today and aught to be here with time to spare before your first ride or race of the season.

CROSSROADS CHALLENGE TRAIL RUN

WHEN: Saturday Feb, 26th

TIME: 9:00 am

WHERE: Crossroads Recreation Complex (off POPLAR ST. – below the Casper Events Center )

CATEGORIES: Competitive (2 laps) and Non-Competitive (1 lap)

ENTRY: FREE, FREE, FREE!!!

COURSE DESCRIPTION: 4.5-5.0 mile (per lap) fun trail run through majestic rolling prairie with perfect trail conditions, picturesque views of Casper Mountain and the North Platte River. To top all this off, guaranteed NO WIND! Ah, yeah, this is a trail run so be prepared to run amongst antelope, rabbits, sagebrush, yucca, the “occasional” cactus and other trail hazards!
In case of inclement weather or course conditions, preparations will be made if course conditions are too muddy. Inclement weather? It’s February in Wyoming – come prepared!

**NOTE** This trail run is self sufficient, therefore, no aid stations are provided.

AWARDS: Due to the low-key nature of this event and no entry fee, no awards will be given. We are just running for the fun, fitness & camaraderie! To follow the honor system, there will be a finish line clock and note pad to write down your name and finishing time. If all goes well, maybe this could turn into a spring series and I’ll keep track of runner’s finishes and have a small “series end award” to be given to the top 3 in each class.

If you have any questions or comments, please email or call and leave a message. If you know of anyone that may be interested but not on this email list, please forward this information.

Last Chance

Next Monday the Fat Fish will be sending in the order for team jerseys.  If you want to order a jersey, which by the way makes your 23% faster, you will need to send us your info sometime this week.  Just email the team at fatfishracing@gmail.com.

Today was a gorgeous day here on the prairie.  The cattle trail was just dusted over last night with a half an inch of snow, making the single track easily visible.  I rode for just 85 minutes of interval funness.  The nearby horses had a fun time watching as I passed by each 5 minute loop.  I guess they were curious, because they walked the fence line back and forth while I rode.

Have a great week.  Oh, the ol' san juan worm slayed the trout yesterday on the North Platte.  I caught a fish every 5 minutes.  My hands never got the chance to warm up.  Good luck fishin!

The latest

The Fat Fish Racing Team recently met to hash out the dates for the 2011 Mountain Bike Riding Series. To see the dates check out the link above called Race Schedule.  You can find the Fat Fish Racing Events along with many other events that we are probably going to attend.  So get those calendars out and mark the Mondays that you can make the Fat Fish Rides.  One weekend you won't want to miss is May 21st and 22nd.  That Saturday, bring your bikes and hiking shoes to join us at Glendo State Park for some trail building.  This is a great chance to meet people, learn new trail, build new trail, and last but not least, RIDE new trail!  The next day is the Gowdy Grinder in Laramie.  The race course is absolutely amazing and they get a ton of racers from CO, so be prepared for a very competitive race.

Last Thursday, some Fish met at Wind City PT and did a killer 1 hour training ride on our Kinetic Trainer.  The 2 minute threshold test that Kinetic suggests us to do every month is a great tool to see how our training is going.  I completely CRUSHED my threshold from last month maintaining about 355 Watts and a heart rate of 180, maxing out at 186 for the last few seconds.  Can't wait till next month.... Bring It!
Miles and HR info from Thursday.

Last night I did some Plyo at the YMCA and met some new people.  The weight room in the basement is really nice and spacious.  I highly suggest that place if you're in the market for a new gym.  I met a guy named Rob and talked about how it's been years since he has been on his bike.  I hope he can make it to one of our events and start cycling again.  The Fat Fish Racing Events are for everyone.  If you are competitive and want to compare your times against your friends, your self or against some of the area's fastest, you will love the A class of riding at the Fat Fish Rides.  If you are out for a good time on the bike and don't care about your time, then the B class of riding is for you.  There will be more info coming soon about the Fat Fish Rides.

Tonight was supposed to be a "low stressed" ride according to my training plan, but two hours of consistent riding in Zone 2 was actually quite stressful.  Usually an unplanned ride consists of me going fast and slow, hard and easy, stand and sit, one leg, then the other.  Trying to maintain a heart rate in between 120 and 129 was much more work than I was expecting.

Miles above, Average HR below left, Max HR below right.
Get out and ride folks!  Can't wait to see you all on May 2.
