Hi bike riders. Are you tired of checking this blog everyday to find out what is new about two wheels in the Casper area? Of course not! Looking at this blog rocks and besides, you don't have anything better to do. Just kidding.

If you would like to receive and email when there is a new post to the Fat Fish Racing blog, then please email us with your email address. Then, each time I post something new, I will send a short email message reminding you to check the blog. This will help us to reach as many people as possible who are interested in racing and riding with the team.

Our email is fatfishracing@gmail.com. Just send us a short message saying you want to be added to the email list. I will only email you when there is a post to the blog which is about 4 times a month and will not email you junk that would give your computer a virus or anything.

Thanks,
Adam

Check out these pic's of my bro, Kevin, rocking the Fat Fish jersey at the Minnesota Off Road Race Series. MN has some awesome single-track.

Photo's from the CX at Crossroads.

Hello riders. The course that was put together for last Thursdays Cross Race was a pretty intense pedal fest. The lap was taking us about 6 minutes to complete with the biggest rush coming from the hill run, that I thought would be fun while I was making the course. After the race, I felt a little bad for the racers on Cyclocross bikes because there were enough tight turns and loose gravel that made this course much faster for us on fat tires. Next time I'll do a better job at making the course even for both types of bikes.

It was good to see a new face out on the trail too. Nice to meet you Brian and hope to see you again at another race.

Thursday CX Race

Hello again. I just got back from setting up a few flags. I hope that they will still be there tomorrow. There were not too many set since I'm afraid that the City Park workers may see them and take them down. So I will be taking everyone on one pre-lap, starting at 6pm which we will all do together AND count in our race time.

I will be there at 5:30 or so and will quickly go out to check that the course is still set. Then I'll be back to meet you all at the parking lot at about 5:55. If there is time, and some extra flags, I will set a couple flags on the trail leading you from the parking lot to the main course. This will help those of you who arrive late (M.D.hahaha).

To get there, go into the North Casper Park entrance (it's a One Way) and work your way towards the fields 3 and 4. There are a couple signs that you'll see telling you which way to turn to get to fields 3 and 4. Park at the dead end near the bridge.

See you tomorrow.

Oh, the course is AWESOME! It is a short loop that will take us about 7 to 9 minutes to finish the first lap, but I'm sure we will slow after each. There are two dismount locations with the possibility of adding another tomorrow.

Can't wait!

Psycho Cyclo Thursday

Whoa its getting dark early these days! Because of that, I am going to make this upcoming race on Thursday a little shorter. We will still start the race at 6pm (please meet in the parking lot which I gave directions to in the previous race post) but the race time will be shortened.

Competitive racers will race for 45 minutes.

Casual rider will ride for 30 minutes.

The loop will be short and I hope really fast. Expect a lap to last anywhere from 5 to 10 minutes with maybe 3 places to dismount per lap.

Hope to see you there. No food after this race but please feel free to bring your beverage of choice for some hang out time afterwards.

See you Thursday.

24 hours of Moab

I have heard from so many people that Moab is not all it's hyped up to be, but the 15 mile loop that our team rode 18 times (for a total of 268 miles and 24,480 ft of elevation gain) was the best set of trails I have ever ridden. Which brings me to my point. I can't wait to do it again!!

Mike, Ray, Matt and Myself had a blast this past weekend in Moab Utah where we competed in 24 Hour National Championship final event. The trails were amazing, the views were spectacular, the fires, music, beer was aplenty and we rode our bikes to near exhaustion until the final countdown. I started the race off with the 1/4 mile sprint "around the bush" and back to our bikes and took off with some of the top Pro's in the country. I held on with the top 50 pack for the first 3 miles about, until we got to top of the climb and it flattens out. That was where the top 20 or so continued to maintain their effort while the rest of us felt like resting after a 1 mile hill climb. Anyway, there is a ton more I could say or write about, but I think pictures work better.

Above: The handoff between Matt and Mike. First you had to hand the baton to the judge, then swipe your card on a scanner...... then the next rider has to swipe his card, say their name to the judge and then grab the baton from them. The best way to hold the baton was to stick it in the leg of our shorts. We saw some of them out on the trail, which probably jumped out of some peoples back pockets.

Our team held on to 5th place during the first 20 hours of the race (in the Mens Expert category) and despite each of us putting together some smoking fast lap times (for our last laps even), two other teams pulled ahead of us in the end (we thought they may have brought in some ringers.. JK). Placing 7th out of 13 in the Mens Expert Category was pretty cool and I was really impressed with how well the team worked together.
