The Crossroads Challenge is just one week away and the FFR Team is so excited to share this free event  with the Casper area.  As a reminder, please RSVP (the poll to the right here) so we can bring enough food for everyone there.  Here is the whos, whats and why's you should come.  See you Monday!

Who:  ANYONE!  This ride is for anyone on any style of bike.  There is a hill that no BMX or Cruiser bike will be able to ride up, but you can walk your bike up the hill.  The rest of the course should be no problem with that type of bike.  This ride is for casual riders to competitive racers.  Bring your A game and ride in the faster A class.  If your not feeling it that night, ride in the B class and cruise the course at a more casual pace.

What:  A cross county style mountain bike ride.  The course will have one hill each lap and have a lot of singletrack.  The A class will do 4 laps and the B class will do 2 laps.  Expect to finish within 1.5 hours.

When:  6:30pm start on Monday May 2nd.  Be there a bit early so that you can sign the release form and warm up before the ride.

Where:  Crossroads.  Park in the Mike Lansing Field parking lot on Poplar Street.  The ride starts near softball fields on your left as you are entering the parking lot area.

Why:  Because you are a winner!  You have pedals that need to be hammered on, tires that need to get dirty, lungs that need to burn, but most of all, you have people in Casper to meet and share this amazing sport with.

If you have questions about the ride, please email the team at fatfishracing@gmail.com.

May 2nd Fat Fish Racing season opener

Ride Description:

We will start on the paved path near the large covered pavilion at the softball fields parking lot.  From there we will head up the single track climb behind the softball field and follow the sandy trail along the bluff.  At the end of the trail we will turn right and drop down into the crossroads park area (same as the cross race this fall).  At the bottom of the hill we will make a sharp left hand turn and follow the double track to the East.  Near the end of the trail we will turn right down the hill and across a small drainage area.  We will continue to follow the main single track back to the West through the frisbee golf course and finally along the river back to the parking lot where we started the lap. The laps should take the "A" group approximately 15 minutes and the "B" group about 20-25 minutes.  The "A" group will complete 4 laps and the "B" group should complete 3 laps.  The ride should take roughly 1 hour for each group.

Meet near the softball fields just off of Poplar Street.  The ride will start at 6:30pm.  Be there a little early at least so you can sign the waiver to ride.  If you don't sign the waiver, you don't ride.  If you are under 18 you will need a parent there to sign for you.  We hope you all can make it.  If you can't ride, bring your cowbell and camera.

Here are a few pictures of some mtn bikers in action at crossroads.

Below:  All three of us riders came directly from the top of the bluff here.  You can see our tracks just a couple feet to the left of the washout.

See you in two weeks!

Print it, post it, copy it, talk about it, make it a sticker and post it on your bike or car.  Whatever you do, help spread the word that the Fat Fish Racing Team is amped up about hosting these 9 events throughout the summer.  Free food, prizes and biking camaraderie will be a plenty.  See you in just two weeks.

Cold ride this morning

The snow stopped us from getting to the top of Bessemer mountain, but it didn't stop us from getting out on some dirt roads and two track trails.  Darrin, a mountain biker from Los Angeles visiting family in Casper, and I rode for two hours this morning.  I just started getting feeling back in my fingers enough to start typing.  I was quite impressed with his tolerance of the cold.  He said that he would like to go riding again when he gets back home so he rides once in snow and another time in a t-shirt in the same day.   Yesterday was so nice, I can't wait for warm weather again.  Maybe next weekend.

Enjoy the ride!
