Great News For 2011

The Fish just had their end of the year gathering and we talked about the future of the team and mountain biking in the community. We have great news for everyone. 2011 will bring a much more organized riding series to Casper with a scheduled 9 ride Monday Night Series starting in May. The mountain bike ride series will end on a Saturday in September with an end of the year bikers bash. Great news for all you women. There is going to be a WOMENS ONLY group ride each Wednesday after the organized Monday night series rides. The course will already be set up for all of you and this ride will be lead by women too.

Of course these rides will once again be FREE All Year Long!
They will still be fun and casual.
There will still be FREE food and drink after each ride (for the Monday AND Wednesday rides)
These rides will be in or close to town, so you don't have to take hours off of work to get there.
All ability levels will be able to ride the trails

New to 2011:
There will be 2 classes of which to ride at the Monday Night Series: Cat A, Cat B. Women can choose which one they wish to ride in and will be separate from the Men. (we may change the name later, but you get the idea).
Series points will be awarded to the riders in the A category.
Extra points can be earned by volunteering at various trail working dates.
End of the year prizes will be awarded to the top Men and Women riders in Class A
Random prizes will be drawn for all riders in each Category.
A Fat Fish will be riding along with the B class to help encourage and motivate new/younger riders. All of our events are casual and fun for anyone. New to mountain biking?? No Problem! We are here to help you have a blast.

We can't wait to see you again in May!  Until then, have a Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, a loving Valentines Day, a sweet St. Patricks Day, a cool April Fools and we will see you around Earth Day!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We would like to offer anyone the chance to own a Fat Fish Racing jersey. If you would like to purchase a jersey for yourself or for a friend then please email the team at fatfishracing@gmail.com and I will get back to you ASAP. A jersey order will be made on February 1st, so that we have them for our first ride in May.  We just ask that you be a respectful human being while representing our team and the town of Casper.

Fat Fish Racing is able to make these events free and have free food afterwards because of our amazing sponsors. If you are a business owner and would like to promote your business by sponsoring our team and events then please email the team at fatfishracing@gmail.com to get more information about sponsorship. We have a number of different sponsorship levels that will no doubt suit your businesses needs.

Amazing Trails

Cows Rock!

A special holiday greeting must go to all the cows out there in Wyoming who have given us mountain bikers a whole new world to ride bike in. If it wasn't for these beautiful animals, we would have to build all the single track trails ourselves. If anyone has told you that the trails around Casper are no fun, then they are not much for exploring.

I want all of you who are new to Casper to know that there is a TON of trails. All you need to do is get out and ride. Check out the BLM, the State Parks, the National Forests. There are some of the most amazing vistas and climbs you've ever seen pretty darn close to home.

My suggestion.... Come ride with the Fat Fish. Even though we sometimes call our rides a race, it is for ANYONE. On Saturday we rode for 18 miles on new and old trails at Edness K Wilkins State Park. It is pretty similar to crossroads but while it was windy in town, the tree cover at EKW made for a very calm day.

In conclusion: Thank you cows, there is a lot more riding available to us than you think, EKW offers a quiet refuge when the wind is blowing in town, and three of us found some amazing trail today that we will share at a Fat Fish Racing event in 2011. It will blow your mind that we have this awesome trail just minutes from town.

Well, Merry Christmas from all of us at Fat Fish Racing and please check back with us after the new year. There is a good chance that we will be hosting some more free events for you at the start of 2011.

EKW Cyclocross Race This Saturday

Get excited bikers!! With temps in the low 30's and a good chance of snow on Saturday, the weather will be ideal for a short track Cyclocross race. The race will be at Edness Kimbal Wilkens State Park. Get your fiends and carpool, as there is a couple dollar entry fee. Or just ride in to the park on your bike for a free entry.

The race will be cyclocross style with short loops, some obsticals to dismount at and some sand. The race will consist of as many loops as we can do in 40 minutes and it will start at 10:30am.

Here's the short of it.....

Who: anyone can race and it's free
What: a 40 minute intense or casual ride, there are no rules besides staying on the course
When: This Saturday with a start time of 10:30
Where: Edness Kimball Wilkens State Park
Why: Because the weather is going to be perfect for riding

Hope to see you there

New Kicks!

A Miracle Mile Brown Trout. Gave us a great meal that night.

I just put cleats on my new winter shoes! With temps in the mid 30's and wind speeds in the single digits, Yeah I said the single digits, this weekend will be great for biking or fishing.

The trout are very much biting on the Mile using hardware or streamers.

Good luck!!
